| What would you like to accomplish before you die: | Make a name for myself in the scientific community, create something beautiful | |
| About me: | I'm an undergrad Senior student who will be graduating quite soon. I was raised in a strong Catholic household, and as a young kid, I read many science fiction and fantasy stories. I grew up with a deep interest in science, mainly marine biology, but my worldview was twisted due to my upbringing. I believed in creationism, psychic phenomena (I still have a Dean Radin book around here), ghosts, and UFOlogy, due to influences by stories and the friends I hung out with. Not until I started college, was I struck in the face by a great number of excellent professors and my joining of a drug addiction research lab in the department of Physiology in the Medical Sciences campus of the University of Puerto Rico. So as you can probably imagine my "arrival" into skepticism has cost more than the average person. It has taken a full 180 degree turn and many hardships to accomplish this, but I'm proud of what I've done for myself and for those around me. I have to give proper credit, though, so I attribute in good part my life change to SGU, which unbeknownst to them, I'm in great debt. Also, I thank my mentor, Dr. Carlos Jimenez, neurophysiologist, in aiding me during this transition. Aside from this small history, I'll wrap it up with some fun facts about me. I tend to be a bit sporadic in my conversations, I like to talk about anything that adds to my knowledge, or my sense of humor. I hang out less often than most, preferring some more quiet evenings than hard partying and dancing, though I can defend myself if the need calls for it. I\'m an avid video gamer, I love to read and watch good movies, I exercise usually by running, and I try to walk/run and avoid driving. |
